KUALA LUMPUR, (Bernama) - Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) was appointed as the
official broadcaster for the AFF Suzuki Cup 2012 to be held in Malaysia and
Thailand.
RTM's Director-General of Broadcasting Datuk Norhyati Ismail said the first match of the AFF Suzuki Cup on Saturday (Nov 24) between Thailand and the Philippines in Group A would be telecast live at 9pm through TV1 while the delayed telecast of the match between Vietnam and Myanmar would be aired at 1am on Nov 25.
"Since RTM is the official broadcaster of the AFF Suzuki Cup 2012, we promise to offer the viewers the best action in the competition. There will also be informative programmes aired.
"We took the initiative to become the official broadcaster to inject a continuous support for the national team in its quest to qualify for the final and go on to retain the cup," he told reporters after the official announcement was made at Angkasapuri here today.
She added that TV1 will air the Group B match between Malaysia and Singapore on Sunday starting 8.40pm while the delayed telecast of the match between Laos and Indonesia comes on at 1am on Nov 26.
For the record, RTM had telecast the semifinals and final of the 2010 AFF Suzuki Cup and watched by 3.8 million people.
